2021 Update on Haiti

Shortly after the assassination of its president and resulting political chaos, Haiti experienced a 7.2 earthquake and aftershocks. Then Tropical Storm Grace hit the same area. Thousands of Haitians have fled to the Mexico/US border, many have been deported, and the suffering has no end in sight.

In October 2021, Presbyterian Church (USA) mission co-worker Cindy Corell and her friend and mission partner Fabienne Jean, a citizen of Haiti, provide an honest look into the complicated history of Haiti and the desperation that Haitians feel due to recent events.

Cindy Corell, a PC(USA) mission co-worker, is a Joining Hands network companionship facilitator serving Haiti. Since 2010, she has connected presbyteries and churches in the US with agencies in Haiti that seek to alleviate poverty and to empower Haitian citizens.
