Coaching Support for New Ministers, Educators, and Lay Pastors
Are you a minister, certified Christian educator, or commissioned pastor in your initial call or covenant?
The first months in a new ministry position are filled with learning about the ministry position and getting to know the congregation.
Coaching provides valuable support and insightful reflection for church professionals as they enter new positions. The stance of a coach is, “I’m on this journey with you. Let’s figure out together what you want to do and how you want to do it.”
The Commission on Ministry (COM) wants every ministry professional to succeed. Coaching is an important factor in success. Therefore, Presbytery of the James has a robust coaching support policy.
Free Coaching Available for Those in Their Initial Calls or Covenants
All ministers, certified Christian educators, and commissioned pastors who are in their initial call or covenant in the presbytery will receive eight coaching sessions at no cost. Choose a coach from the approved list, submit a form to COM, and the presbytery will pay the fees.
Interested in Coaching But not in Your Initial Call?
Coaching can benefit anyone at any stage of ministry. Ministers, certified Christian educators, and commissioned pastors who are new to the presbytery but not in their initial call or covenant may request financial support from COM for coaching. COM may approve up to eight sessions.
