On May 17, Presbytery of the James convened via Zoom for a special meeting. Lauren Ramseur and Ashley Diaz Mejias, co-pastors of Voices of Jubilee New Worshipping Community, led evening prayer.
Barbara Flynt, co-chair of the Presbyters Search Committee, shared the committee's nomination of the Reverend Dr. Floretta “Flo” Barbee-Watkins as lead presbyter for vision and collaboration. After the presbytery approved the committee's two motions, Flo joined the meeting to introduce herself.
"I'm more than excited about what God has done, is doing, and is about to do in and through the Presbytery of the James," she shared.
Flo's start date is June 27.
The next meeting of the presbytery is June 14 at 9:00 a.m. Registration will open May 31. Participants may choose between attending in-person at Westminster Church in Richmond or virtually by Zoom.
