A Message from Rev. Kerry Foster
Hello, Presbytery of the James! Rev. Kerry Foster here, but you can call me “tempgp.” Well, I’d prefer you email me at tempgp@presbyteryofthejames.org. I will be in this transitional position for a yet-to-be-determined time. It is my hope that in this time of “tempgp” we can begin to see each other again, and to see each of us as who we are, as “children of God.” We will talk more about that, but for now, a quick introduction!
I am in my twenty-fourth year of servant ministry, having pastored three congregations in two presbyteries. In my first presbytery (Shenandoah) I served in two separate calls, led Ukirk ministry at JMU for seven years; served as stated clerk for three years; participated on three task forces; trained as a church consultant, serving three congregations as they prepped for their PNCs; trained as an interim and served one congregation as interim, and participated in five or so committees of the presbytery.
Prior to that, I worked in building materials sales-retail and commercial, for about 18 years.
The best “prior” to that is I am married and have two children who were born in Richmond. I was a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church and attended Union Presbyterian Seminary.
In my church life, I taught Sunday School, helped with VBS, was an elder, and did a lot of “handyman” work around the site.
I have been back in the Richmond area for about three years now and have been active in this presbytery.
I am looking forward to being more active now!
Blessings on you all,
Kerry
