The Vine is published three times per year, following each stated meeting of the presbytery. This publication is mailed to 12,000 congregation members of churches in Presbytery of the James. The Vine is produced and edited by Kelley Hope, associate for communications.
Submission Guidelines
Word count
Most contributed articles are 200-300 words plus captions.
Audience
The Vine is mailed to adult congregation members. Articles or information for church leaders can be shared in the Current, our email newsletter.
Editing
Articles may be edited to match the Vine's style and voice.
Publishing schedule
The Vine is published three times per year.
- February 6 - deadline for the March issue
- June 1 - deadline for the July issue
- October 1 - deadline for the November issue
Photos
Each article needs photos or illustrations. Photos should be high-quality and high-resolution (1MB or larger). Original, unmanipulated files are best. Please provide text for captions with your article text. If you don't have high quality photos, we can work with you to select appropriate stock photos or graphics.
Multi-media exposure
In addition to the Vine, POJ communications include our Facebook page, the Current email newsletter, and our website's announcements and bulletin board. Vine content is shared on these media so your article has multiple opportunities to be viewed.
Variety
POJ has many ministries and congregations, each doing valuable work in our community. To give as many as possible an opportunity to be highlighted in the Vine, entities may not be featured in more than one issue per year. If your ministry or congregation has been the topic of a Vine article recently, we will share your contribution through one of our other communication vehicles.
