The Charlottesville Coalition for Gun Violence Prevention engages in a variety of activities to raise awareness of gun violence issues and to support programs designed to reduce the incidence of gun violence in our state. In recent months CCGVP’s many initiatives have included sponsoring and participating in the ASK Day event; advocating directly with state legislators on gun violence issues; and supporting the institution of “gun free” policies in retail stores and housing units in the Charlottesville area. In light of the shooting a few weeks ago in Virginia Beach, Governor Northam has reconvened the General Assembly in the hopes that our legislators will take a fresh look at sensible gun law legislation. The Special Session will begin on Tuesday, July 9. Sensible gun law advocates from across the state will be holding a rally at the Capitol (9th and Bank Streets).
